Borussia Dortmund director Michael Zorc has responded to rumours that Arsenal are interested in Julian Brandt, saying they ‘don’t reflect the truth’.
Last week reports emerged that linked Brandt with the Gunners. He was seen as an ideal option to improve their creativity going forward.
But it looks like the transfer is off the cards after Zorc revealed there wasn’t any truth in the rumours.
He said (via journalist Fabrizio Romano): “There is nothing on the table at the moment. We can’t do anything about rumours that are constantly being spread that simply don’t reflect the truth. There’s currently no interest.”
Brandt has been one of Dortmund’s star players since joining from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2019.
He’s scored eight goals and assisted 14 more to repay some of the £22.5 million fee they paid for him.
His form saw him linked with a move to Arsenal, alongside fellow playmakers Houssem Aouar and Dominik Szoboszlai.
Aouar could now become the Gunners’ best option after Szoboszlai opted for a move to RB Leipzig.
Technical director Edu has already completed the first signing of the January transfer window. He helped to bring in young defender Omar Rekik for a £500,000 fee from Hertha Berlin.
Mesut Ozil seems to be closing in on an exit. Arteta has revealed that a decision is likely in the ‘next few days’.
Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock have been mentioned in a possible player-plus-cash deal for Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia.
The Argentinian is a cheaper alternative to Aouar who could cost around £40 million in addition to the two Englishmen.
Manchester City need a striker. Harry Kane it is. And Arsenal look to the Bundesliga for a playmaker.
Some teams will be more pleased than usual to see the back of the FA Cup; others should give it a right go.
John Stones seemed finished at Man City, much like a couple of £50m-plus midfielders at their clubs…
“Simplicity is genius” – it’s not hard to see why Mourinho loves his favourite midfielder so very much.
Kyle Walker-Peters was the best right-back in Southampton v Liverpool. He has been a revelation.
We’ve done Chelsea, Spurs and United, time for some bona fide Premier League title challengers.
