Alan Shearer has lauded the impact that Kieran Tierney is making at Arsenal, saying he is “everything you want from a modern full-back”.

Tierney came through the ranks with Celtic and he totted up over 100 appearances for them between 2015 and 2019.

It was a highly successful period for the youngster. He won the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award for three straight seasons up to the 2017/18 campaign.

His performances in Scotland attracted the interest of numerous teams. But Arsenal secured his services for £25m in August 2019.

Tierney missed the start of the 2019/20 season through injury. But when he returned to fitness, he immediately established himself as a regular starter for the Gunners.

He ended up making 24 appearances in all competitions last term and he has continued his great form into this season.

The left-back has played in all 16 of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season. He put in another stellar display last time out as Arsenal convincingly beat West Brom 4-0 at the Hawthorns.

Tierney was named Shearer’s Team of the Week for his showing. He got a goal and an assist en route to their victory. Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe were also named in the eleven.

Shearer praised Tierney for his complete performance against West Brom, which has been shared by the Premier League’s official website:

“He provided everything you want from a modern full-back, scoring a brilliant goal and setting up another while also helping his team keep a clean sheet.”

“The table looks completely different, the energy around the place is much better…” Mikel Arteta is buzzing.

Arsenal and Allardyce have enjoyed hugely contrasting weeks. The young Gunners are on the up; West Brom look destined go down…

Arsenal have suffered their worst start to a season since 1974 with just 14 points from as many games.

Arsenal suffered their eighth defeat of the season as they lost 2-1 to Everton on Saturday.

Shearer believes Pogba’s action (or inaction) is a clear signal of his desire to leave Old Trafford.

Tierney insists Arsenal’s players are to blame. “We have got a great manager and we believe in him 100 per cent”.

Frank Lampard will win the title with Chelsea, apparently. Just look at Jurgen Klopp. Erm…

Brentford can take inspiration from this lovely lot as they hope to conquer Tottenham on Tuesday.

Man United and Man City are in a title race and welcome £19m and £7m wingers respectively in January.

The Portuguese influence on the Premier League has never been so obvious and impressive.
