In the light but emphatically cute “Yes-Tag”, based on the book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal, Jennifer Garner and Edgar Rodriguez play a married couple with three children who oppose their mother’s litanies “No “Protest and demand a day when they have to say“ yes ”to everything they ask within certain limits (no murders)

Meet the Torres Family Allison (Garner) is the overprotective mom and former free-spirited marketing director who insists that her negativity can be linked to the thing of “parenting.” Carlos is an advocate for an Apple-like high-tech Her children are 14-year-old Katie (Jenna Ortega) who wants the freedom to go to her first concert without her mother. Nando (Julian Lerner) is the tweener interested in science when you’re under science “foam bombs” “Understand” The youngest is Ellie (Everly Carganilla), who cannot read yet and likes to sing along with dad in the family SUV to the epics “Faith No More”. Carlos and Allison are called to school by two of their children’s teachers and are told how Allison’s overprotection is affecting her children, and by that I mean a haiku from Katie for getting away from her cocky mother

YES DAY (L-R): EDGAR RAMIREZ as CARLOS TORRES, JULIAN LERNER as NANDO TORRES, EVERLY CARGANILLA as ELLIE TORRES, JENNIFER GARNER as ALLISON TORRES, JENNA ORTEGA as KATIE TORRES Cr: JOHN P JOHNSON / NETFLIX © 2021

YES DAY (L-R): JULIAN LERNER as NANDO TORRES, JENNA ORTEGA as KATIE TORRES Cr: MATT KENNEDY / NETFLIX © 2021

This makes the couple say “yes” to a yes day for their kids. Could there be a simpler set up for fun? Well I have to admit I don’t see the humor in opening the SUV windows while the family is inside and the SUV is in a car wash same goes for a scene with the above foam bombs and the family toilets but I can see How Kids Might Like This Messy Stuff Rosenthal and her co-screenwriters have a certain foam fetish the kids’ first request is for a $ 40 sundae which is free if the family can finish it within 30 minutes Insert bathroom sounds here

Can you say Magic Mountain? Can I ask how much was paid for the inclusion? While Allison is in the park, she gets into an argument with another woman over a stuffed gorilla she wants to win for Katie to remind her daughter of their happy childhood. Allison and Carlos end up in jail and the children go alone, Nando and Ellie Have a “nerd party” at Torres’ house while Katie goes to the concert where she will see HER. perform and no doubt get in trouble and regret the day she defied her mother

“Yes Tag” Is Fun To Families Over A Certain Age People Of Different Races May Not Be Dealing With This Garner, who has an engaging screen presence and probably knows a lot about motherhood, brings credibility and mood-lifting fun and enthusiasm to the Venezuela-born Ramirez (“Carlos”, “Zero Dark Thirty”), who has a list of previous credits from tough guys, can show off some comic book moves and kid-friendly and sincere fatherly empathy

“Yes Day” is a long way from director Miguel Arteta’s last film “Beatriz at Dinner” and even further from his breakout “Chuck & Buck” “But it has put together a good cast, including Boston-born Nat Faxon as Counselor who keeps showing up at children’s Yes Day events”

“Yes, day” can get a bit cheesy, and sometimes it takes a long time. But don’t get angry. The last hugs and of course another haiku are not far away
