Celebrity chef Pete Evans has been constantly booted from Instagram for sharing misinformation about coronavirus and vaccines

“We removed Pete Evans’ account for repeatedly sharing debunked claims about the coronavirus or vaccines,” the company said in a statement

“We do not allow anyone to share misinformation about COVID-19 that could result in imminent physical harm, or about COVID-19 vaccines that have been debunked by public health experts”

Mr Evans’ Facebook page was removed in December, but he continued to post misinformation via Instagram, which is also owned by Facebook

Facebook had previously removed several of the chef’s Instagram posts for violating its misinformation policy

Facebook’s COVID-19 and vaccine misinformation guidelines were updated last week, and the company pledged to tackle false claims

On Wednesday, Facebook expanded the list of false claims it promises to remove and added some more information about coronavirus and the vaccines

False claims, which the company claims will not be tolerated, include that COVID-19 was made by humans, that it is safer to get the disease than the vaccine, and that vaccines are toxic, dangerous, or autistic / p>
With growing concerns over the spread of misinformation about COVID vaccines, experts are calling for a new approach: vaccinating people against misinformation by subjecting them to the usual tricks and strategies of persuasion

He has repeatedly written articles against COVID-19 vaccines and masks, shared discredited coronavirus remedies, and claimed in a podcast that the coronavirus was a joke

Mr. Evans regularly used his Instagram account to question official information about COVID-19, vaccines, and other pieces of mainstream science

His company was fined more than 25 by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in AprilOccupied $ 000 after promoting a device called “BioCharger” on a Facebook live stream, claiming it could be used in connection with coronavirus

Mr. Evans announced last week that he would run as a Senate candidate for a fringe party founded by former One Nation Senator Rod Culleton
