Member of the Bundestag Nicolle Flint has announced that she is leaving federal politics, but has not given an explanation for her decision

“I have informed the Prime Minister and the Liberal Party that I will not be nominated again for the Boothby seat in the upcoming elections”Ms. Flint said in an email to voters on Friday night

â ???? I will continue to work hard to serve you and my local community until the next election

â ???? I will be committed to supporting the candidate chosen by our Liberal Party members to ensure we return a Liberal government led by Prime Minister Scott Morrison to lead our nation out of the COVID-19 pandemic and beyondâ ????

Ms. Flint is one of only 11 female Liberal MPs compared to 32 male MPs.She is the only Liberal MP to represent South Australia in the House of Commons and the first woman to represent Boothby

She was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016 and held onto her fringe seat in 2019, despite halving her lead when she suffered a slap against her of 1.3 percent on a two-party basis

She was openly talked about misogyny and abuse she received as a female MP, particularly during the 2019 campaign, a man in his sixties was accused of persecuting her during the campaign and she used social media to speak out against to fight back male commentators who criticized her appearance

Ms. Flint also accused the activist group GetUp of the aggressive “bird dog” Campaign tactics against them during the last poll

Bird-dogging, named for the animals used to hunt game, refers to the practice of intercepting and filming candidates while they are being asked questions

GetUp has advised its members how to do the technique but said it is always important to be polite and respectful

“Public attention as MPs sometimes attracts unacceptable behavior, and I have admired Nicole’s efforts to fight the bullying and meanness of certain groups and individuals”said the Prime Minister in a statement

???? However, during this experience Nicolle put a laser focus on her community and delivered it to the people of Boothby and South Australia

â ???? I look forward to continuing to work with Nicolle for the remainder of Parliament’s term in office to ensure that we propose a Liberal candidate who will bring the same high profile qualities to the people of Boothby as she hasâ ????

Tom Koutsantonis, a longtime Labor MP in South Australia, said Ms. Flint’s departure was a “real loss to liberals”

“This is a real loss for the libs in SA She is smart and is considered impressive to &”Mr. Koutsantonis tweeted
