A child and woman tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a private family event in northern Melbourne

Health Minister Martin Foley told reporters on Sunday that the three-year-old child and a woman will be released on Saturday, May 6th February, had visited a “venue” at 426 Sydney Rd Coburg

“They come from separate households,” he told reporters, adding that both are linked to the Melbourne Airport Holiday Inn hotel cluster, which is now number 16

“Both have been since 12 Isolated on February 13th and both February a positive sample tested in isolation and returned ”

Test commander Jeroen Weimar made it clear that 38 people had taken part in the event, all of whom were tested and put into self-isolation

“There was a CQV employee there who was not known to be positive at the time and who was attending this family event with household members and a number of others,” he said

“All of these individuals have been tested and there are a number of positive cases that have now been attributed to this event”

A case recorded on Saturday – a man from Point Cook aged 30 – is also associated with the private function

The mother of the child is also being examined as a “possible case” after three conflicting test results have been returned in the past 24 hours

“Our epidemiologists and specialists are working with her and our laboratories to clarify what possible infections she may have, whether she is at the beginning of her infection period or whether it is nearing the end“Weimar said

He said authorities were working with the mother, who works at Alfred Health, to identify her close contacts and conduct screening in case she is confirmed as a positive case

The cases prompted authorities to add a supermarket, bakery, and two public swimming centers to a growing list of COVID-19 exposure sites

Anyone who has visited the venues during the times indicated is advised to isolate themselves, take a COVID-19 test, and remain isolated for 14 days

The third state lockdown has put millions back into the hardship they believed was left with the drawn-out restrictions and economic sacrifices of 2020

Until 11am on Wednesday at 17Midnight Victorians can only leave the house to shop for essential items, provide or receive care, play sports and work or study when they are away from home

Similar to the fourth tier restrictions last year, there is a travel limit of five kilometers, mandatory use of face masks, and no home visitors
