Reporting on the impact of the coronavirus on the sports world

After Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo saw the results of the 2021 NBA All-Star Game draft earlier this week, he had a simple message: “It’s over, folks me, LeBron, Luka, Jokic and Steph Man, this is a good starting XI “

His words were prophetic when Team LeBron drove to a 170-150 win over Team Durant in a game with little drama on Sunday night, however, there were some memorable moments including some from the Greek freak himself who scored 35 points and ended seven rebounds on a perfect 16-of-16 off the field and was named the Kobe Bryant All-Star Game MVP

Giannis’ shooting performance was an All-Star record for most shots attempted without a miss, in fact doubling the previous mark of Hal Greer, who shot 8-8 off the field in 1968. Giannis also increased his All-Star average to 288 points per game, another record

“It’s fun,” said Giannis after the game. “It’s fun I was happy, my teammates had fun Just being with great players is easy to play”

One of the most obvious demonstrations of this fun and friendship came late in the second quarter when Giannis took a step backwards 3 and celebrated by jumping for joy with Nikola Jokic as they ran down the square

Another big moment came in the third quarter when Giannis controlled the ball on the wing. He broke out some dribbling motions and started a 3 while the broadcast crew all said “NO!” Screamed That quickly changed to “YES!” as the ball hit the backboard and snuggled into the net

“Usually [the bank] is closed, but it was open to me,” joked Giannis. “It was extended hours. I called ahead to make it open”
