Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean announced on Sunday evening (14 March) 2021 in the final of Dancing On Ice a breathtaking skating performance

British ice skating darlings Torvill and Dean have once again proven why they are a force to be reckoned with

The gold medal winning couple went on ice in the Dancing On Ice finals on Sunday night and gave a stunning performance to Frank Sinatra’s ‘Fly Me To The Moon’

Jayne Torvill, 63, and Christopher Dean, 62, showed the young finalists of the 2021 show how it was done by effortlessly portraying Sinatra’s 1954 hit

After eight weeks of competition, Sonny Jay, DJ at Smooth Radios sister station Capital FM, beat actress Faye Brookes and Olympian Colin Jackson and was crowned Dancing On Ice champion in 2021

Sonny hit the ice on Sunday night, doing a revamped version of Torvill and Dean’s famous 1984 bolero routine before being crowned the 2021 show winner

When asked how he felt performing a tribute to the couple’s famous dance, Sonny replied that it was a privilege, saying, “People like him weren’t allowed to ice skate in front of people like Torvill and Dean”

The famous dancing couple has been judge and creative director of Dancing On Ice

since it was founded in 2006

In Torville and Dean’s 15-year appearance on the show, the two gave the audience some special dance moments, but none as iconic as the replica of their famous bolero, which won the Olympic gold medal in 2014

Jayne Torvill, then 55, and Christopher Dean, 54, took the rink on Dancing On Ice and did a beautiful reenactment of their world famous routine

30 years ago, the couple completed the routine so sensationally that it earned them a place in the history books as one of the greatest athletic moments of all time

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean represented the UK in Sarajevo, Bosnia, at the 1984 Olympics when they stepped on the ice and gave a beautiful self-choreographed performance by Maurice Ravel’s Boléro

Over 24 million people tuned in to see the young dancers stunned by the incredible routine, earning them the highest scoring figure skater status in the history of the sport

The moment proved so significant that in 2002 a Channel 4 poll in the UK named the glorious moment of gold winning number 8 among the 100 Greatest Athletic Moments
