Former Australian captain Ian Chappell is unfazed that batsmen are taking an “inappropriate” time to leave the fold once issued by the on-field umpire

Chappell’s comments refer to recent events where Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne showed their clear disappointment with the umpire’s decision Smith, who played in the Sheffield Shield Games for New South Wales and Labushchagne for Queensland, was refereed spent on the field – by the way, both were stolen from the goalkeeper

Both animated right-handers raged at the referee’s decision and lingered off the field with noticeable differences of opinion in their body language

When asked about these events, Ian Chappell was angry with modern batsmen, especially Labuschagne, for disagreeing with the Ump’s decision. The 77-year-old has observed that Labuschagne takes “forever” to get after his Dismissal to get going

“Many players from around the world take inordinate time to get out of the fold when they get out. Marnus Labuschagne is a bad example – it takes him forever to get off the field, but he’s not the only one, and there are many others and from other countries I just don’t get it You’ve never had so many cops on a cricket pitch: referee, third referee, fourth referee It’s time for you to say, “Hey, listen, what the hell is going on “When you get spent, get on your bike and get on your bike really fast,” Ian Chappell told Wide World of Sports

Former right-handed player recalls his playing time when players were taught not to argue with the umpires as his reputation is the last word on any matter Chappell believes it is the advent of the DRS that does the Made players question the umpire’s decision and seek justification on the big screen instead

“When I was growing up, the first thing you were told was that the referee was right, and you didn’t argue with the referee you have to find a way even if you got issued and you knew you weren’t out, somehow you had to find a way to walk that 100 yards to the locker room before you let go of it all. It was character building

“They introduced the DRS system which basically tells the players,” argue with the referees ” I think some of them are looking around, looking at the big screen and so on, ”added the former skipper
