A federal media advisor has resigned after the Tasmanian Green leader alleged that he ordered a “heinous insult” at her

Cassy O’Connor used parliamentary privilege to label Liberal aide Andrew Hudgson a “sexist pig,” claiming he used a horrific bow when talking to colleagues about her, reports ABC News

Ms. O’Connor told the Tasmanian Parliament on Wednesday evening that while he was working for then Prime Minister Will Hodgman in 2019, she had a “personal story to tell about a heinous insult directed by Mr. Hudgson against me”

She said her media advisor Alice Giblin heard Mr. Hudgson referred to her as “Meth-Head C ***” while interviewing nearby

Mr. Hudgson was employed as a media advisor to Assistant Treasurer and Housing Secretary Michael Sukkar, but a government spokesman said he was asked to step down shortly after Ms. O’Connor made the statement

“Mr Hudgson called me ‘meth head-shit’ when he and his colleagues were walking across the lawn not far from us,” the Tasmanian Green leader told the state parliament on Wednesday

“Imagine you hate women so much that you audibly say this about a woman you don’t know who happens to be an elected representative?

“I did an interview at the time and didn’t hear the insult, but Alice I believed her without question because she never lied to me in the decade I worked with Alice

The Prime Minister’s then Chief of Staff received a complaint from Ms. O’Connor and opened a formal investigation that was suspended after two weeks. The Prime Minister informed Ms. O’Connor that investigators found the allegation “unfounded” and that Mr. Hudgson “did not direct or direct any swear words at you”

Ms. O’Connor said Wednesday that this was another case where allegations of abuse by women were not being taken seriously as Australia faces its problems of misogyny, harassment and sexual violence against women

“Andrew Hudgson’s story was believed to have continued working for the Morrison government,” she told the Tasmanian Parliament Mr. Hudgson also worked for former Victorian Liberal Prime Minister Denis Napthine and Federal Cabinet Secretary Michaelia Cash when she was Secretary of Labor and Minister for Women

“It reminds me a little of the old people’s Catholic Church, but mix it up in the books

“The result is that Mr. Hudgson has been protected by the Liberal Party, the state and the federal government

“Madam Speaker, this is the standard by which our current Prime Minister is passing because he is getting clearer every day that he accepts it

“The women and girls in Australia have long memories, Mr. Morrison We see you, we hear you and we believe you are a big part of the problem ”

A government spokesman told Newscomau, “The government was not aware of any allegations about the employee’s alleged conduct during his previous employment. After several historical allegations emerged, the employee was asked to resign. What they did”
