Katy Perry may adjust to first-time mom life after welcoming daughter Daisy Dove, but her fiancé Orlando Bloom has been a seasoned father since meeting his 10-year-old son Flynn with ex-Miranda Kerr shares – which, according to Perry, has been her salvation in the past few months

Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live on February 9, the singer has been open about welcoming her little girl with Bloom and how she deals with the responsibility of being a new mom

“It’s the best decision I’ve ever made in my entire life,” Perry told the TV host. “I have family and support, and I have an amazing fiance who has done this before. He has a 10- year old son ”

Perry adds that Bloom’s parenting stories helped her “As much as I thought,” I don’t need to hear all these stories, “they actually helped,” she said “Oh, you tried you know how to do it “He was amazing, amazing and we are so in love and thankful”

The couple welcomed Daisy Dove in August 2020 after getting engaged on Valentine’s Day 2019

Perry also became open about parenting requirements, revealing that she wasn’t prepared for the hidden realities of childbirth “Nobody talks about the first six weeks after having a baby,” she said, “Oh my god, this is wild! what a roller coaster! I had my fifth album out and I gave birth and every other album cycle would be some kind of celebration or party, but this time I gave birth to the greatest gift of all and my album came out the next day and i was in the hospital and i couldn’t wipe my own bum I thought, “This is the strangest album release day and I love it ‘”

Nor is it the first time that the young mother has kept it real after Daisy’s arrival

In September 2020, on the same day she normally attended the MTV VMA Awards, Perry posted an candid postpartum snapshot standing in front of the mirror in a nursing bra and underwear

“Hair n makeup by @exhaustion,” she wrote, cheekily playing on the way celebrities credit “who they wear”

And it’s not the only step Perry took to support new moms. Perry and Bloom announced the arrival of their daughter Daisy Dove on Jan. August through UNICEF, the organization for whom both act as ambassadors of goodwill to support pregnant women and newborn babies who are at risk of dying from preventable causes

“We float in love and wonder at the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple announced in a statement

“But we know we’re the lucky ones, and not everyone can have such a peaceful childbirth experience as we do. There is still a shortage of medical staff in communities around the world, with a pregnant woman or newborn baby dying every 11 seconds , mainly for avoidable reasons “

As part of their announcement, Perry and Bloom launched a UNICEF fundraising page on behalf of their new daughter to “celebrate the heart we know our daughter already has” “
