Victorian Prime Minister Daniel Andrews has been hospitalized after falling over in his home this morning while getting ready

His office told ABC that Mr. Andrews had no head injuries but that the fall was “worrying”

Deputy Prime Minister James Merlino will take over from Mr. Andrews today, including at a press conference northeast of Melbourne at 9:30 am

During the press conference, Mr. Merlino said Mr. Andrews was still in the hospital taking “precautionary x-rays”

“He’s fine and will be back on his feet shortly,” he said, adding that it was a “nasty” fall

Mr. Andrews had been on vacation since Friday afternoon and should be back to work today

He was a mainstay during the state’s coronavirus crisis and chaired more than 100 consecutive daily press conferences

The 47-year-old has been chairman of the Victorian Labor Party since 2010 and Prime Minister since 2014
