BC.The ban on social gatherings as part of the COVID-19 pandemic has been extended to midnight on February 5, 2021
“Now is our time to stay on course,” said Provincial Health Officer Dr Bonnie Henry said Thursday
“If more action is needed, we will take that,” said Henry, adding that health orders could change if the numbers drop
“This virus doesn’t know that we haven’t seen our friends in months. It is not known that it is our grandmother’s birthday,” she said
Henry tells everyone to follow the guidelines and know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel
This includes activities such as indoor and outdoor events with the exception of drive-in and drop-off events
Interrupted events also include musical or theatrical performances, galas, silent auctions, and watching movies in theaters
Funerals, weddings, and christenings can still be held with a maximum of 10 participants, but receptions including official receptions are not permitted
Meetings such as city council meetings and anonymous alcoholic meetings can still be held as long as COVID-19 guidelines are in place
Fitness centers, studios, gyms, and fitness facilities may operate with safety guidelines in place, but high-intensity activities will remain suspended
All organized indoor and outdoor sports for those aged 21 and under must follow Sports’ Return to Sport Phase 2 guidelines
There cannot be travel for games or training unless the athlete’s home club is outside of their immediate community
The vaccine rollout will continue in B. with the plan to have half a million people vaccinated by the end of March
Henry reported 761 new cases of the virus on Thursday, along with eight other deaths that resulted in B.C.Fatalities to 970
There were 6 in the province349 active cases, along with at least 8849 people isolated for possible exposure Excluding Northern Health region
In addition, two other people have signed the so-called UK Variant of COVID-19 that brings the total number of people in B. to three
