Journalist Brooke Baldwin announced Tuesday that she was leaving CNN in April after reporting for the news network for more than a dozen years

The announcement came at the start of their afternoon program “CNN Newsroom with Brooke Baldwin”

“Before we get started, I’d like to start with some personal news. I’m leaving CNN in April,” she said

Baldwin reported for WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia, WOWK-TV in West Virginia, and WTTG in Washington, DC.before joining CNN as a freelancer in 2008

“I remember scribbling my name on a post-it note and pasting it outside this temporary office, determined to fulfill my dream of becoming a full-time CNN correspondent,” she said Tuesday “Little did I know that I would not only fulfill this dream, but also thrive in these surroundings and land my own two-hour show in the afternoon at the age of 31”

Baldwin said Tuesday that after her time at CNN, she didn’t immediately get a job

“Yes, yes, I feel very vulnerable,” said Baldwin. “But what does Brene Brown say? “Vulnerabilities are the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change” and I’m so excited about what’s to come ”

Baldwin said she had been working on her first book for the past two years, “HUDDLE: How Women Unleash Their Collective Power, the book is slated to hit shelves in April

“The next chapter of my life will focus on what I love most about my job: improving the lives of exceptional Americans and harnessing my passion for storytelling,” said Baldwin

“I just have to do more – more I have to do outside of this place, outside the walls of this place, a place I’ve been allowed to call home for 13 years”

Baldwin said she would be leaving the train station in mid-April It wasn’t immediately clear who would fill her time slot on CNN
