After successfully ensuring that his cameo in The Mandalorian remained the best kept secret in the galaxy, Mark Hamill has finally weighed his surprise return in the final moments of the Disney show’s second season finale back to the Star Wars universe

In response to a fan on social media, Hamill called Luke Skywalker’s appearance in the closing moments of episode 16, The Rescue, as one of the “greatest gifts” “

Paying tribute to the show’s creators, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, Hamill wrote on Twitter: “Sometimes the greatest gifts are the most unexpected and something you never realized you wanted until it was given”

In a separate tweet, Hamill said he was touched by the fan reaction to the beloved Star Wars character’s digitally aged return

“#Nowords,” he wrote, adding, “Seeing the fan reaction to Luke’s return is something I will forever cherish your anticipation for the X-Wing / Ep 6 robes / a lightsaber / one GREEN lightsaber / a gloved hand / an unloved hand / a force throttle / R2 – WARMED & and moved me a lot ”

Co-creator Favreau previously spoke about how concerned he was that Hamill’s cameo would be spoiled in advance

“It was very difficult because it’s very difficult to keep a secret these days, especially Star Wars, because people are so curious about it and so many people are involved in the process, with visual effects, finishing, making, Shoot everything in the studios, ”Favreau said during an appearance on Good Morning America last month

“Every piece of casting leaked (before it was officially announced), so we were so scared until it aired that our surprise cameo leaked”

“The fact that we kept my involvement a secret for over a year with no leaks is nothing short of a miracle,” Hamill tweeted. “A real triumph for spoiler haters everywhere!”

Set after the events of the Return of the Jedi, the Mandalorian focuses on Pedro Pascal’s bounty hunter character who tries to reunite Baby Yoda – aka Grogu – with his people

The series featured the first live-action appearance of Cls Wars favorite Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) and the return of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison) – both of which will have their own Star Wars shows played during the Mandalorian timeline / p>

In addition to a third season of The Mandalorian, these two spin-offs include the newly announced Star Wars streaming titles Rangers of the New Republic and The Bad Batch as well as shows revolving around Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor
