MacKenzie Scott, the 22nd richest person in the world – thanks to her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos – has found love again and married Seattle science teacher Dan Jewett

Scott, valued at $ 53 billion, according to Forbes, signed the Giving Pledge – a pledge to donate half of her fortune in her lifetime to charity – when her divorce with Bezos was finalized in 2019 An active philanthropist for the past two years, she was giving $ 4 billion in four months to underserved communities including community colleges and historically black colleges and universities

“In a fortunate coincidence, I am married to one of the most generous, gracious people I know – and join her in sharing tremendous financial fortune to serve others,” wrote Jewett in a Giving Pledge statement published at 6 March Jewett joins Scott in her charitable pledge

“It is strange to write a letter saying that I plan to give away most of my fortune during my life as I have never tried to raise the type of fortune that is required to do that Feeling that something like that has a special meaning, “he wrote, noting that he has been a teacher for the” majority “of his life

The couple apparently met at Lakeside School, a private school that Scott’s children attend (and where Bill Gates went) and where Jewett was a chemistry teacher. His profile is no longer on the school’s website, and Lakeside doesn’t have a Forbes -Request returned for comment asking to confirm his position there

“Dan is such a great guy and I’m happy and happy for both of them,” Jeff Bezos said in a statement given to Forbes by an Amazon spokesperson (This was the same statement he made to the Wall Street Journal which first reported the marriage of Scott and Jewett)

Scott’s most recent public statements were $ 4 billion in donations last year, “While far from delivering on my promise, this year of giving began by reaching out to leaders from historically marginalized groups fighting inequality , and ended up contacting thousands of organizations working to alleviate the suffering of those hardest hit by the pandemic, “she wrote in December
