MONCTON, NB. – Police say the vehicle that is being driven by an armed man wanted in New Brunswick for a shooting Tuesday was abandoned in northern Nova Scotia

The New Brunswick RCMP posted a message on Twitter at 9:37 a.m. local time, Janson Bryan Baker’s car was found in Amherst, N.but Baker was still at large

Amherst is 45 miles south of Moncton on the Trans-Canada Highway and near the New Brunswick border

The Mounties in New Brunswick said they worked closely with their counterparts in Nova Scotia, including the Amherst Police Department

The Mounties distributed an alert message to the Moncton area shortly after midnight Tuesday evening, saying the 24-year-old suspect was armed with weapons “with the intention of using them” “

Police later circulated a message on Twitter that Moncton residents “can go about their daily business, but with caution””

Baker is described as 5-foot-9, 145 pounds, with short brown hair, brown eyes, and tattoos on his neck, right cheek, and forehead

The Mounties said Baker drove a black 2020 Hyundai Elantra with tinted windows and license plate JUN 296

City Police in Amherst, NS.confirmed that a vehicle matching this description was found in town on Wednesday morning

“The vehicle appears to have been abandoned,” Amherst police said in a tweet, “There is currently no indication of an imminent threat”

The Tuesday shooting took place near Riverview High School and resulted in a man being rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries

“While the police are searching for the person, the public is requested not to report police locations or positions on social media,” the New Brunswick RCMP said in a statement

“Only call 911 if you’ve seen Janson Bryan Baker or have information about his whereabouts. Do not call 911 or the police directly for additional information”
