Police say people from Toronto are planning to travel to a party in Niagara Falls for the New Year

New Years Eve celebrations as we know them will be canceled this year in the face of the global pandemic, but we all know there are still residents likely to be trying to break government guidelines to stay home and 2021 in 2021 to ring the security of their home only with those with whom they live

The Ontario Police remain vigilant and have learned of at least one incident in which individuals are planning to leave the GTA and rally illegally in other parts of the province

The Niagara Regional Police Service posted on its social media channels Thursday that it had learned of a group of people from the Toronto area who had chartered an entire bus to go to Niagara Falls for the vacation and Pick up several passengers in downtown Kern, Scarborough, North York, Vaughan, Brampton and Missisauga on the way

“We are investigating”, the troop wrote on Twitter and Facebook, “This does not comply with the COVID-19 regulations #StayHome #StaySafe”

We have received the message from the #GTA that a # NYE Charter Bus Event is planned the provisions of # COVID19 #StayHome #StaySafe BildTwittercom / OYMLbQcg0l

A number of users responded to the statement with their support for the authorities in disbanding this proposed gathering and convicting those who fail to abide by the current rules under the province’s strict blanket lockdown

Many also point out that all Niagara celebrations, including those in Toronto and elsewhere in the world, have been canceled, including fireworks, light shows, and more casinos and all other non-essential businesses are also closed

And another passionate local: “Fine for these irresponsible, ignorant, selfish people STAY HOME NIAGARA IF YOU DON’T WANT !!!!!!!!!!!!”

A representative from the Niagara Police Department told blogTO that they had been notified of the charter by a law enforcement agency in the Toronto area

“Live entertainment was scheduled during the bus ride, essentially the bus would arrive at Niagara Falls between 10 and 11 a.m. and have it back in the GTA for 3:00 a.m.,” they said

“A scheduled bus charter with paid live entertainment does not conform to a local transit bus route and does not comply with Covid-19 safety regulations. If the bus comes to Niagara Falls with the driver, organizers, entertainment and bus drivers, they could investigate further and enforcement actions are subject to “

Hopefully, by the time they arrive in Niagara, prospective attendees have heard of the punishment awaiting them and are now making alternative, more COVID-19 friendly plans for the evening
