Outstanding performances from Flyers prospects Bobby Brink and Cam York, USA, defeated the Czech Republic 7-0 in the USA IIHF World Junior Tournament in Edmonton

A lively Minnesota winger, Brink scored two goals and was named his team’s MVP, while York, a mobile defender from California, contributed three assists and was plus 3

The Czech Republic scored an impressive 2-0 win over Russia, which Team USA had beaten 5-3

“The Czechs showed against Russia that they have a really good team,” Brink told reporters after the win. “It took us a while to make money today, but if we play like we did for the rest of the season Tournament, we’ll probably do really well””

The Americans took control of the game by scoring a goalless draw with three goals in the second half, including two from Brink, who scored 1-0 on the rebound

“We knew they’d take their goalkeeper and try to keep us out,” said Brink “So we knew we had to get some people on the net if we wanted to get in and we were hoping to get some greasy rebounds”

The win secured the Americans (2-1) a place in the quarter-finals, who will finish the group game against Sweden (2-0) on Thursday at 9:30 p.m. The game will be televised by the NHL Network

In three games York has six points (goal, five assists), which puts him in fourth place among all World Junior goal scorers. He is plus-2 Brink has two goals, one assist and a plus-5 score

American Trevor Zegras, an Anaheim Ducks prospect who scored two goals and three assists against the Czech Republic, has 10 points to lead the tournament

In the 2019 draft, the Flyers chose York in the first round (14 Overall round) and Brink in the second round (34 Overall round) They are among the best prospects of the Flyer and are in their sophomore year of their respective colleges – York is in Michigan, Brink is in Denver
