At least nine people were injured and up to 200 evacuated after a night landslide in a small town north of Oslo on Wednesday, police and local media said

In the early hours of Wednesday in Gjerdrum, where 5000 people live 25 kilometers northeast of the capital, several houses swept away

“Several houses were hit by the landslide. Emergency services are being evacuated with the support of the Norwegian civil defense and the military,” said the Norwegian police on Twitter

Norwegian media said up to 200 people were evacuated from their homes and nine were injured, even though none were in critical condition

Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg expressed her condolences in a social media post and said: “It hurts to see how the forces of nature have devastated Gjerdrum. My thoughts are with everyone affected by the landslide”
