The Kosovar parliament has appointed a 38-year-old US- educated law professor and candidate of the ruling Vetevendosje party Vjosa Osmani as the new president of the country after an election in February

Vjosa Osmani took office as incumbent President of Kosovo last November when her predecessor Hashim Thaci resigned ahead of his upcoming war crimes trial in the Netherlands

Osmani’s original mandate expired when the new government of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the head of Vetevendosje, took office after the February 14 election

On Sunday, parliament voted with 120 seats and 71 votes for the appointment of the President of Osmani, Reuters reported
