Teemu Pukki and Adam Idah both found the net when Norwich expanded their lead at the top of the Sky Bet championship to seven points with a comfortable 2-0 win over Wycombe

Wycombe kept the guests goalless for 51 minutes, but an 18th Goal of the season for Pukki broke the impasse and Idah closed the matter with three minutes left

Anis Mehmeti came closest to Wycombe when his low run whistled past the post in the first half, but the leaders were consistently in control

Wycombe made a change from midweek when Dominic Gape stood up for banned Ryan Tafazolli, Norwich made two changes, with Ben Gibson and Onel Hernandez looking for a fifth straight win

Mario Vrancic scored a winner in stoppage time after a free kick at the last meeting of these teams in October and was promoted from a similar position from the start This time, however, his use was prevented by an excellent save by David Stockdale

The 35-year-old, who was again replacing the injured Ryan Allsop, threw himself left to touch the ball around the post

Mehmeti seemed to enjoy a better role behind Wycombe striker Uche Ikpeazu and the two of them Mehmeti was at the end of Ikpeazu’s flick before firing a shot with his left foot close to goal

After Wycombe screamed from penalties when Mehmeti was felled, Norwich enjoyed the best time of the game around halftime

A cross from Hernandez hit Kenny McLean, who dragged his left-footed shot far past the post before Emiliano Buendia rebounded a header from the crossbar. The rebound fell on Pukki, who could only tip over

The pressure was a sign of the future Hernandez had another chance to inexplicably plant a free header past goal before Norwich took the lead

After an excellent job on the right, Max Aaron’s low cross found Pukki in the area and the Finnish international’s shot was deflected by Josh Knight and past Stockdale

The goal put Norwich in a barrage of chances. Hernandez shot the ball past goal in a tackle with Stockdale before Buendia shot a shot over the bar

Midway through the second half, there was the unusual sight of five substitutions at once when Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth phoned the changes

After Wycombe was late on the upswing, substitute Scott Kashket spooned the ball over the bar and shot wide as his side tried to level

With two minutes to go, however, any chance was blotted out. Stockdale made an excellent save from McLean, but Idah bundled the ball home to secure all three points and keep Wycombe 11 points from safety at the bottom of the table
