The Duke of Edinburgh was hospitalized Tuesday night after feeling unwell and is expected to stay at Buckingham Palace for a few days, has said

99-year-old Philip, who received a Covid-19 sting in January, was admitted to the private King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital in London on Tuesday evening

“The Duke’s admission is a precautionary measure on the advice of His Royal Highness Doctor after he has become unwell

“The Duke is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days to be watched and rested”

A spokesman no 10 said: “The Prime Minister sends his best wishes to the Duke of Edinburgh while he is resting in the hospital for a few days”

The Queen and Prince Philip both received their coronavirus vaccines from a doctor at the Royal Household at Windsor Castle earlier this year

It is unusual for the palace to comment on the private health issues of the monarch and duke
