Ryan Shawcross is expected to work with Phil Neville at Inter Miami after agreeing to mutually terminate their Stoke contracts Shawcross made over 400 appearances for the club in 14 years The new MLS season starts in April

Ryan Shawcross has left Stoke after 14 years at the club after his contract was terminated amicably ahead of the expected move to Phil Neville’s Inter Miami in the MLS

The 33-year-old, who played over 400 games for the Potters, is leaving the bet365 stadium before his contract expires this summer

Shawcross has terminated his contract early in order to get ahead of the MLS kick-off in 2021 on March 3 April to connect with Miami

“Ryan’s contribution to the club over the past 14 years just cannot be overstated. His outstanding leadership and persistence in his portrayals made him a talismanic figure to us,” said Tony Scholes, CEO of Stoke, in a statement. p>

After 14 years of excellent service at Stoke City, we can confirm that Ryan Shawcross has left the club, Ryan and his family will always be welcome at the bet365 stadium and he leaves with the best wishes of everyone at the club # SCFC 🔴⚪️

“He believes the time has come to explore new opportunities and leaves with our very best wishes. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Ryan, his wife Kath, and their family every success in the future – you will always be welcome at the bet365 stadium “

Shawcross joined the Potters from Manchester United in 2007, initially under a loan agreement that became final in January 2008

Just a few months later, Stoke celebrated promotion to the Premier League and Shawcross wasted little time establishing himself as a key figure as the club confused expectations by maintaining its top status

He was named the club’s captain at the start of the 2010-11 season, which would lead him to lead Stoke in the FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley

“It’s very rare these days for a player to stay with a club for 14 years I’m sure Ryan has had an opportunity to go elsewhere over the years, but he clearly felt settled and valued here, “said Stoke manager Michael O Neill added

“He hasn’t thought as often in the past few years as he would have liked, but his professionalism and demeanor, both on the training ground and in the club, since I joined, simply cannot be questioned “
