Liverpool’s manager Jürgen Klopp was unable to travel to his mother’s funeral in Germany on Tuesday due to the currently applicable travel restrictions – the coronavirus pandemic

Klopp paid emotional tribute to Elisabeth after her death at the age of 81, but it is assumed that he was unable to attend the funeral in person in his home country, Germany, as he feared spreading Covid-19 strains from high-risk countries / p>

“She meant everything to me. She was a real mother in the best sense of the word,” Klopp told the German newspaper Schwarzwaelder Bote

“The fact that I cannot attend the funeral is due to the terrible times, but as soon as circumstances permit we will hold a wonderful commemoration befitting it””

On Wednesday, Liverpool tweeted a message of support for their manager that read, “You will never go alone Jurgen”

In a response from the official Premier League report, it says: “The thoughts and condolences of everyone in the Premier League are with Jürgen, his family and friends at such a difficult time”
