The new crime drama Grace starts tonight on ITV – and RadioTimescom may reveal a first-look clip from the debut episode

The full-length program airs at 8:00 p.m. and introduces viewers to unorthodox cop Roy Grace, played by Doctor Who and Life on Mars star John Simm, as he helps a colleague investigate the disappearance of a real estate developer Investigate Brighton

In the clip, Grace is warned by Deputy Police Chief Alison Vosper (Rakie Ayola) to focus on his own cases instead of engaging in the investigations of others

However, he replied by stating that a brief delay in these investigations shouldn’t be a major problem as all of the other cases he has worked on are cold cases

“All of my clients are long dead,” he says, “a day or two won’t make a difference to them, but it could mean life or death for Michael Neward”

Vosper then seems reluctant to accept Grace’s decision, but warns him to hold back before she walks away

Today’s episode is the first of a two-part series – no airing date has yet been announced for the second episode – and both episodes are based on the bestselling novels by Roy Grace by Peter James

The first excursion is from the first novel in the series, Dead Simple, while the second uses the sequel Looking Good Dead as a source

In addition to Simm and Ayola, the Grace cast also includes twists and turns from Mangroves Richie Campbell as the soaring detective DS Glenn Branson and Adrian Rawlins as the middle Harry Frame
