Former British champion Nicky Booth has received honors from the boxing world after his death at the age of 40

Booth and his brother Jason both scored titles in the sport, with Nicky claiming British bantamweight belts and Commonwealth belts during his 23-man career

But Nicky endured problems outside of the ring, struggling with drug addiction, and would have his last fight as a 23-year-old in 2003

It is so sad to hear that former British and Commonwealth Bantamweight Champion Nicky Booth RIP has expressed his deepest condolences to his brother Jason and his family 🙏

It’s so sad to hear the news that Nicky Booth passed away so young I remember he and his brother came to a session at our training ground in Forest. Life is fragile and needs to be cared for 😔

Adam Smith, director of boxing development at Sky Sports, said, “I really liked the Booth brothers Jason and Nicky, I knew them well. They lit up the sport in the early days of Sky

“Nicky’s character, his charisma, his personality, he was a real nugget on the scene. They were both Jason was quieter but they came as a couple Unfortunately Nicky got into trouble outside of the ring and it’s a very sad story.” / p>

“I remember Nicky’s win over Stephen Oates in a cracker at Harvey Hadden. He was in big fights, he was exciting for a minute. You tried so hard with Nicky to get him back to the gym, but it was a fight they couldn’t win
