The schedule for easing the lockdown in Scotland has been announced Pubs, restaurants and hairdressers open in April

During a speech on Tuesday, the First Minister announced the key dates for the reopening of retail stores, pubs, restaurants and hairdressers

She said, “I know how difficult the past few months have been and I will never underestimate or stop being grateful for the sacrifices everyone has made

“But now – thanks to these sacrifices and the success of the vaccination program – we are in a much better position”

The Scottish Government will make the official stay at home requirement from May 2 April, with other restrictions lifted in the coming months

‘Stay at Home’ will be replaced with a ‘Stay At Home’ guide, with Ms. Sturgeon explaining, “Although we initially hope for no more than three weeks, ‘Stay at Home’ will initially be replaced with a guide on how to stay locally – in other words, you are not allowed to travel outside of your own territory unless it is for an essential purpose ”

On Monday the 5th April, hairdressers are only open by appointment, while click-and-collect retail services are allowed to serve customers

Garden centers, household goods stores, car dealerships and forecourts may be reopened, as may non-contact sports for 12 to 17 year olds

All children return after the Easter break, which for many of the 12 April are back to school all day

While alcohol sales are permitted and there is no “essential meal” rule, all venues have a 10pm curfew

Non-essential shops, gyms, libraries, museums and galleries, as well as tourist accommodation, may be reopened

People are allowed to meet their friends and family outdoors in groups of six from up to three different households

Ms. Sturgeon also hinted that some indoor hospitality could be opened if Covid cases continue to drop However, this would be limited to groups of four people from two households who no longer have any alcohol or service after 8 p.m.

From the 26 April, people who are on the screening list are allowed to return to work

This would be the case if Scotland dropped to Risk Level 2, which allows pubs and restaurants to serve alcohol indoors until 10:30 p.m.

Cinemas, bingo halls and amusement parks are also allowed to reopen, while four people from two households in one private household are allowed to socialize

While the details still depend on the success of the vaccine launch and hospital admissions, the country could move to stage one in June

The First Minister said, “If I were to set an exact date for all of this now, I would have to tear it out of nowhere – and I would do it to make my life easier, not yours

“I won’t do that, but I believe that in the coming weeks – as more and more adults are being vaccinated – it will be possible to set a firmer date by which many of these normal things will be possible

“I know I won’t be the only one now – with a real sense of hope – looking forward to hugging my family this summer”
