Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has praised Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero for constantly helping the team off the field

The two goalkeepers didn’t have many opportunities to play Edouard Mendy currently ranks first as a goalkeeper

Arrizabalaga had two starts under the new manager in wins against Barnsley and Newcastle United in February, while Caballero hasn’t played since the 3-3 draw against West Brom in September

Much like Thiago Silva, who yelled and trained from the stands during Atletico Madrid’s visit to Stamford Bridge midweek, the two goalkeepers helped the team maintain their defensive form

“[It’s] nice that it shows you that the team is totally involved, the guys who were in the stands were totally involved,” Tuchel told Chelsea TV

“They trained non-stop from the stands, the boys on the bench [also] constantly trained the boys on the field

“For example, Kepa and Willy Caballero were excellent at defensive training the whole time, so it was pretty impressive and the best feeling for a coach”

In February, the Chelsea boss explained how the Argentina international had helped him decide on the penalties set by the team

“The guys have received some penalties in the last nine days after training,” said Tuchel after the 1-0 derby win over Tottenham

“If you’re not serious, don’t score against him so that you get a pretty good picture of who is capable and who is not””
