Dr Yvonne Doyle, Medical Director of Public Health England, urged people to stick to the rules to stop the spread: “During Christmas week there has been a worrying increase in cases in all regions of the country, especially among adults 20s and over 30s

“We are not allowed to add any more fuel to the fire now, as meeting in close and large groups this New Year’s Eve risks another broadcast”
