There is no doubt that the Maryland game was set to be the toughest test for Michigan basketball this 2020-21 season, but late in the game the Wolverines made it look easy as they retired from the Terrapins late

By the middle of the second half, Maryland actually had the lead and the Wolverines were in a cold spell. But then Michigan Basketball responded with a 17-2 run Franz Wagner and Hunter Dickinson were absolutely dominant and UM scored in a game in which they had only one point ahead, an 11-point win

Michigan is now 8-0 this season and 3-0 in the Big Ten, including 2-0 in the Big Ten Road Games Here are three quick tips to win the Wolverines:

Hunter Dickinson was from the state of Maryland and the Terrapins didn’t even recruit him Well, the top 40 recruit well on its way to becoming the Big Ten freshman of the year let the Terps pay Thursday night, when he scored 25 points, made 10 of 11 shots from the field and snapped 11 boards, including four on the offensive end

He was also 6 of 7 off the free throw line and got a couple of buckets. This kid is special and he’s the best newbie Michigan has had since Trey Burke

Dickinson is rightly set to shine a lot of the spotlight, but perhaps the most important aspect on Thursday was Wagner’s performance, who scored 19 points and shot 3 of 7 shots from a distance

In the Wolverines win at Christmas, Wagner scored 20 points for the first time that season and hit double digits for the second year in a row, trying 16 in Nebraska and 14 in Maryland

As a result, Wagner scored 39 points in the last two games and linked five 3-point points Isaiah Livers only scored seven points but others rose and if Wagner or Livers have a high-level game alongside Dickinson, that offense is that offense hard to stop

Eli Brooks always plays better than the statistics show, but that night he scored 10 points, grabbed two steals, blocked a shot, dealt four assists, and had three boards

On top of that, he was superb again on defense, whether with a 3-pointer or an absolutely empathetic dunk, Brooks has been and is great year round and he’s a big reason for the 8-0 record

It’s hard for Mike Smith to imagine how he could have played better. He scored 16 points, hit 5 of 7 shots, was 2 of 2 out of 3-point, dealt six assists and was Clutch

Smith is great at picking his points for a goal, and if he and Wagner both keep shooting from downtown it could easily be the best offensive in the Big Ten and one of the best in the country
