After a year-long hiatus from the Big Ten tournament due to COVID-19, Michigan state basketball is allowed to go out and try to defend its crown

The last time this tournament was fully played, the Spartans took home their sixth title, which followed a regular season championship. Long gone are the heroes of this team like Matt McQuaid, Kenny Goins, Cassius Winston and Xavier Tillman, but Aaron Henry and Joshua Langford look hungry and ready to do what their former teammates did

It all starts with a rematch against Maryland on Thursday afternoon in the first game of the day. The Terps defeated the state of Michigan a few weeks ago, ending their three-game winning streak, and the Spartans want revenge

Connor Muldowney: OK, so I got each of the games in the hot seven-game stretch for Michigan State right and will try to keep the series going. If the trend continues, Michigan State fans should very much be happy because I think the Spartans are getting revenge here and big games from Marcus Bingham and Rocket Watts we’re going to see much better full defense and a full win to win a rematch with Michigan

Jack Williams: MSU was destroyed by Maryland last time, circumstances are different now and this team is hot I think the Spartans will show up to play and get a pretty comfortable win

Carter Landis: I think in time to finally rest, Michigan state should be able to get into a rhythm offensively. Maryland isn’t shooting as well as it did in the last game, and Michigan state should be mostly take care of this game

Conner Linsner: Maryland took advantage of it the last time they played. The state of Michigan is scorching hot right now and Rocket Watts had a great performance against Michigan and it might look like the point guard needed the state of Michigan after me finally have some time to rest and Izzo has a good portion of the time for the game plan, I can’t see Maryland as the winner

Stephen Robb: What I saw last Sunday was the MSU team we thought we’d see all year round The Spartans settled for jump shots against Maryland last time Look for Rocket Watts, to drive more The Spartans might have found their offensive rhythm
