CenterPoint Energy is warning customers that they should be ready to be without power all Monday

In a Twitter post, the company that serves Houston, Galveston, Santa Fe and other local communities said the Texas electricity system “is facing an unprecedented power shortage”

“If you are a customer who is currently experiencing an outage, you should be prepared to be without power for at least the rest of the day,” the company said

The company said ERCOT asked companies to reduce power consumption for longer than anticipated, resulting in longer outages than the 15 or 30 minutes originally expected

“As you may know, CenterPoint Energy is a transmission and distribution company and does not generate electricity Therefore, we cannot directly address the lack of power generating capacity we are facing, “the company said
